+ 01 — The project

A scale AC75. That really flies.

Foilia is a radio-controlled model of an AC75, the America's Cup boat: it lifts out of the water and flies on its foils.

Born as a degree thesis. The dream: showing it in flight during the 2027 America's Cup in Naples.

With OEngineering, scientific partner and thesis co-supervisor, there is a georeferenced multiparameter probe on board that collects marine data. On 21 October we were together at CES Unveiled Milan. The collaboration →

+ 02 — The route

From a thesis to the America's Cup.

  1. 01.2025

    The thesis

Designing and building a scale AC75. In March, OEngineering becomes scientific partner and thesis co-supervisor.

  2. 06–10.2025

    The boatyard

3D printing and composite materials. In October, graduation.

  3. 05–06.2026

    First flight

The numbers were right! Towed at 6–7 km/h, it lifts off the water.

  4. 09–10.2026

    Under sail

First take-offs and first breakages: back to the workshop to strengthen the rudder.

  5. 10.2026

    CES

OEngineering's probe on board to collect marine data. On 21 October, guests of OEngineering at CES Unveiled Milan.

  6. In progress

    Stable flight

Stable flight on a single foil, with the flight controller.

  7. 2027

    America's Cup

Making the competition accessible to everyone. The dream: flying at the America's Cup in Naples.

+ 07 — Who's behind it

Hi, I'm Edoardo and I make things fly.

Edoardo Bocchini · Designer (and more)

I'm a designer, but drawing isn't enough for me: I want to see ideas take flight. With Foilia I took a degree thesis off the page, through 3D printing, composite materials and electronics, until it lifted off the water. Now the course is set for the America's Cup in Naples 2027, and I'm looking for crewmates who believe in the same idea.
